Our senior partner Carl Baudenbacher has accepted an invitation by the organization Áfram Ísland to give a public speech on the question whether Iceland should join the European Union.
The former President of Iceland, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, will chair the discussion. The event will take place in the University of Iceland’s ceremonial hall at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, 10 August 2026.
The organizers point out that Carl Baudenbacher was President of the EFTA Court when judgment was delivered in the landmark Icesave case at the beginning of 2013, while Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, then President of Iceland, had referred the matter to two national referenda.
